About Me

Hi there fellow bloggers,

My name’s Sophie Bishop, I’m 18 and I live in Western Australia, and this is just a brief introduction to who I am and what I will be posting.. so here we go.

I’m currently studying Graphic Design and Photomedia at university, and I believe I have finally found my place in life and who I want to be for the rest of my life. I went to high school, studying TEE in year 11 and 12 although I took a break from art in year 10 to be with my friends, which unfortunately resulted in not being able to study TEE art. I didn’t give up on art though, where year 11 and 12 became my reason for wanting to pursue a career in design. I fell in love with the idea of drawing and not having boundaries in high school and soon came to realised I wasn’t half bad. I had my artwork displayed at a few art exhibitions around Perth, and decided to apply for a graphic design major at university for the following year. After being accepted into University I have produced some really cool designs and photos and absolutely admire the design industry and look forward to having a job that revolves around design.

My Nan always told me to “dream big, work hard and hope for the best,” and she’s my biggest inspiration, and I will do exactly that. Now, this blog is your personal invitation to take this journey with me, to watch me as I progress through these stages of learning and practice, and eventually complete my Bachelor.

Mission Statement

Through all my various art works and designs, my aim remains that same. I aim to be original, to create or design something that people will be amazed by, where I am confident within my designs and continously come up with ideas that are unique and challenge everyday designers.

Creativity is hard to define, as we all perceive the term in a slightly different way, although I believe creativity is a result of your personal attributes as well as your knowledge of your design domain. As a graphic designer/ photographer in the making, I always learn new forms of design, like indesign, photoshop, flash etc. where I am given the opportunity to design art work digitally, like posters, album designs, animations and logos. I am aware of the basics of film photography, photoshop, design etc. already and I aim to continue learning in order to produce art works that are visually entertaining, quirky and unique, whilst maintaining and improving my personal level of creativity.
